Built for bank statements

A reviewable workbook, not a copied PDF table

Generic table extraction can lose transaction boundaries or confuse money moving in with money moving out. Statement2Excel applies a statement-specific structure and surfaces checks beside the exported data.

Standardized transaction rows

Dates, descriptions, signed amounts, debit and credit columns, balances, currency, and source pages follow a consistent workbook structure.

Balance verification

Opening, running, and closing balances are checked against extracted transaction movement, with mismatches surfaced for review.

Multi-page reconstruction

Repeated headers, wrapped descriptions, and transaction tables that continue across pages are reconstructed before export.

Source-page traceability

Every exported transaction retains its source page so you can return to the original PDF during review.

Spreadsheet formula protection

Text values that could be interpreted as executable spreadsheet formulas are neutralized before the workbook is created.

Private, expiring files

PDFs upload to private object storage, downloads use short-lived authorization, and source files and workbooks expire within 24 hours.

How it works

PDF to Excel in three steps

The conversion workspace keeps file transfer, parser progress, recovery, and download status visible from upload through completion.

  1. 01

    Choose your PDF

Upload a native text-based bank statement PDF that you own or are authorized to process.

  2. 02

    Extract and check

The parser reconstructs transaction rows, normalizes amounts, and checks available balances.

  3. 03

    Download XLSX

Review a structured Excel workbook with transaction rows, warnings, and source-page references.

Supported input

Native text-based PDF statements

Use the original PDF downloaded from an online banking portal. The current parser is designed for U.S.-style dates, decimal amount formats, and transaction tables that contain enough information to reconstruct and review the ledger.

Files not supported in this release

  • Scanned or photographed statements that require OCR
  • Password-protected or encrypted PDFs
  • Malformed files or documents with missing transaction regions
  • Unsupported locales, currencies, or layouts that cannot be reconciled safely

Privacy and security

A short-lived path for sensitive documents

PDFs upload directly to private Cloudflare R2 storage through short-lived authorization. A queue sends only opaque job references to the isolated parser path; the public web application does not buffer the PDF body.

Uploaded documents are not used to train AI models. The current native-text workflow does not send document contents to a third-party OCR or AI model API. Source files and generated workbooks are retained for up to 24 hours.

Questions

Bank statement converter FAQ

Can I convert a bank statement to Excel for free?

Yes. The MVP conversion flow does not require an account or credit card. Upload a supported PDF, convert it, and download the XLSX workbook.

What data is included in the Excel workbook?

The workbook includes normalized transaction dates, descriptions, signed amounts, debit and credit columns, running balances when present, currency, review evidence, and source-page references.

Does it support scanned or photographed statements?

Not in the current release. The converter supports native text-based PDFs. Scanned, photographed, encrypted, malformed, or unsupported files are rejected instead of producing an unreliable workbook.

How are uploaded bank statements protected?

PDFs upload directly to private Cloudflare R2 storage through short-lived authorization. Source files and generated workbooks are retained for up to 24 hours and are not used to train AI models.

Does it support international statement formats?

The current parser is designed for native-text statements with U.S.-style dates and decimal amount formats. Other layouts, currencies, and locales may be rejected or require review.

What should I do if a statement is not converted?

Start again with the original native-text PDF. If the problem continues, contact support with the visible error code and document type, but do not email the bank statement itself.
